There is a sweeping epic that is the Gospel story. The hero is God's Son, Jesus Christ, who came into this world to live the perfect life and die the only death to pay for your sins and mine on the cross. The good news is that God did for us what we could not do for ourselves, by exchanging our sins for His perfect life. The free, unconditional gift of eternal life with God is received only by putting your trust in the finished work of Jesus. Church attendance, baptism, good works, praying, tithing are not a part of this good news of the Gospel. It is not about religion. What Jesus did for you is by grace (undeserved favor) alone.
